Simple Facts about Arabic
Arabic is widely spoken across the Middle East and North Africa. There are about 295 million native speakers of Arabic around the world. It has three different forms: Classical Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic and Colloquial Arabic. Classical Arabic was used from the 7th to the 9th centuries. Today, Modern Standard Arabic is the official form of Arabic, although different varieties are used in different areas.
-The Arabic alphabet includes 28 letters. It is written from right to left in a cursive style.
-Dots above or below the central parts of the same basic shape represent different letters.
